Parent Testimonials
“As the school year is approaching its end, I thought I should drop you a note to say thank you for all your efforts with my son this year. You being his teacher has really made a difference. He has always enjoyed school, but this year his enjoyment had a different ‘light’ to it, and I can only attribute that to you. He loved having you as a teacher, and I believe you had your own way to make his lovely characteristics come up to the surface. I always saw him as a responsible person, but this has manifested itself more this year. His organization skills have certainly improved and his commitment too - and I again attribute that to you and the way you managed to reinforce what was being said at home. You have managed to associate learning with fun, always maintaining the balance, and I see this has greatly helped my son demonstrate his love for music and find the will and time to pursue what he likes - learning the guitar and becoming a student council rep at one point in time. In short, you have put him on the track to being a well rounded individual. To me, I see it as a year full of achievements for him. So, a big thank you, and may you be blessed for all the efforts you do with all the children.”—Gihan Bahig
“Thanks, Ken, for a great year of inspired teaching. It meant a tremendous amount to all of us, and particularly our daughter. We were fortunate to have you as our teacher, and I do mean ‘our’ for this past year. Your inspiration will continue for a long long time. Stay in touch - we’d like that.”—Larry Kinde
“I would like to thank you once again: this year was not only good for my daughter, it was also interesting for me to see your pedagogical concept. It works! You built the perfect bridge between elementary and middle school. What is very important for me, is that from a human viewpoint, you gave so much love and care and respect (!!!) to the kids. Day-by-day, you made my daughter mentally stronger. I'm sure that she would like to be as cool as you and as successful (as you) in her profession. :-) You taught her how to work hard and have fun at the same time . . . and not to worry about things.”—Judit Bognar
“Not only was Ken an excellent teacher, he served as a role model, and as my daughter once expressed, ‘a second father’ to her. Ken helped her break out of her somewhat of a perfectionist shell - encouraging her to have fun and dare to make mistakes during the learning process. During her year with him, she bloomed as a student as well as an individual. Even after she moved on to the next grade, he urged her to not be a stranger and offered any moral support needed during her transition into middle school. As a parent, I was always approached by him in a very positive and professional manner.”—Antonette Andersson
“From my side, I’d like to give you a big thank you for the great year you have given Emelie. She really enjoyed being in your class and has further developed in an academic way. But even more importantly, she has developed enormously as a person. I believe your approach to the students, your values, and your teaching have contributed strongly to this. Many thanks!!”—Roelof Hansman
“When my son was in the fourth grade, we actively observed the fifth grade teachers to determine who would be the best fit to teach my high-functioning Autistic son, and we chose Ken for my son’s fifth grade teacher. We petitioned him as a teacher for several reasons. First, I was very impressed with Ken’s communication with students. He is very clear about expectations, yet they are not delivered harshly and are well received by students. He is one of those teachers all children hope to have as they dream about the upcoming school year. Not only were the children hoping to have Ken as a teacher, but the parents were hoping as well. Which brings me to my second point, Ken communicates well with parents and is welcoming in the classroom. Finally, Ken stands out as a teacher because he is what I call a ‘holistic educator.’ Not only did my son learn academics, but he really grew socially. Ken encouraged him and helped him engage in conversations and groups. This was huge for an Autistic student, and my son is still reaping the benefits of being a student in Ken’s class.”—Carrie Gardner
“Ken has a wonderful rapport with people of all ages, especially children. His ability to connect with his students, and his talent at teaching simple concepts, as well as more advanced topics, are both truly superior. He has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is extremely organized, reliable, and sensitive to both, parents’ concerns and students’ development. Ken can work independently and is able to follow through to ensure that the job gets done. He accomplishes these tasks with great initiative and with a very positive attitude. He brings life to the classroom by combining his talents as a writer and musician. My daughter is in high school now and has been in two different schools since she had Ken, but he remains as her favorite teacher.”—Monika Guevara
